Champaign Unit 4 Warm-a-Kid Program Underway

November 3, 2020 By From The Editors

Donate winter coats, hats, and gloves to students in need across Champaign Schools

As fall temperatures take hold and winter looms just around the corner, there are many children across Champaign in need of basic warm coats, hats, and gloves. The Champaign Unit 4 Center for Family and Community Engagement’s annual “Warm-A-Kid” program is underway and members of the community can make a difference.

For 21 years, “Warm-A-Kid” effectively meets basic needs of students by serving countless children and families in the community with the help of gracious donors. The program’s goal is to ensure that no student in Champaign Schools is without a coat, hat, or gloves during the winter season.

The number of low-income households and families across the district continues to grow. “Warm-A-Kid” is solely-funded through donations from the local community. Any gift, big or small, will make a memorable difference to help put a coat on a child.

Donations (new coats and/or monetary gifts made payable to “Warm-A-Kid”) may be forwarded to Unit 4’s Center for Family and Community Engagement at 703 S. New St., Champaign. The program distributes coats prior to winter holiday break, but continues accepting donations throughout the winter months as needs continuously arise. All donations are tax deductible.

The following are the most common coat sizes needed:

Boys: S, M, L, XL
Men’s: S and M

Girls:  S, M, L, XL
Women’s: S, M, and L
Toddler Boys and Girls: 4T and 5T
