State senator Scott Bennett will host a free seminar in Champaign next month to help seniors avoid fraud and scams.
Bennett (D-Champaign) is partnering with attorney general Kwame Raoul office to host the Silver Beats seminar at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the Champaign Public Library (200 W. Green St.). The program will include information about identity theft, checking credit reports and filing consumer fraud complaints.
“The seminar will teach seniors how to avoid imposter scams, robocalls, payment mechanism and identity theft,” Bennett said. “Join me and learn how to protect yourself.”
The seminar is free though Bennett recommended calling his office (217-355-5252) to RSVP.
