Free testing for COVID-19 will begin May 19 at a drive-thru site in Champaign.
All individuals with symptoms are encouraged to seek testing at the site, located in the Market Place Shopping Center parking lot at 2000 N. Neil Street in Champaign. The site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week while daily supplies last.
Additionally, accommodations will be made for the following individuals with or without COVID-like symptoms: healthcare workers; first responders; employees of correctional facilities; those exposed to confirmed COVID-19 patients; employees that support critical infrastructure (grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, gas stations, public utilities, factories, childcare and sanitation); all local and state government employees; those with compromised immune systems or chronic medical conditions.
For those using the free drive-thru testing site, you will be asked to show photo identification and healthcare employee or first responder ID/badge, if applicable. Also, patients must remain seated in the vehicle at a functioning window. You will not be permitted to exit your car. For the safety of testing personnel, drive-thru sites will not accommodate walk-ups. Wait times could be lengthy; if you’re experiencing a medical emergency, call your doctor or emergency department to seek immediate care and instructions.
