Climbing the Walls? Take a Trip to Bloomington For a Tour of Miller Park Zoo

March 6, 2021 By From The Editors

Here’s something different for your morning walk: head over to Bloomington for an active senior tour at the Miller Park Zoo.

Active Senior Tours will make their 2021 debut at Miller Park Zoo in April. The tours happen each month on the second Wednesday of each month, and are targeted towards those 55+.

Bring the whole gang out to the Miller Park Zoo for a fun morning, the second Wednesday each month, from April to September. Miller Park Zoo photo

Tours being promptly at 8:30 am, an hour before the Zoo opens to the public, and last for one hour. The cost is $5 per person; parking is free. Just head to the Zoo entrance. No reservations are required but currently, masks are required for all visitors 3 and up.

Miller Park Zoo Active Senior Tours are guided by a “knowledgeable staff member who will give you amazing information…and maybe even a peek behind the scenes!”

Active Senior Tours will take place from April through September. For more information about Miller Park Zoo, visit the Miller Park Zoo website.

Miller Park Zoo is about a one-hour drive from Champaign-Urbana.

DIRECTIONS: It is located at 1020 S Morris Ave. Take I-74 west to Bloomington, then head south on Veteran’s Parkway. Take the Main Street exit and turn right onto Main Street. Turn left onto Wood Street. Remain on Wood Street for several blocks. Miller Park will be on the left. Miller Park Zoo is located in Miller Park. Find Google Map directions here.

* The CDC says “if you want to spend time with people who don’t live with you, outdoors is the safer choice!” You are less likely to be exposed to COVID-19 during outdoor activities, even without the use of masks, when you:

  • Stay at least 6 feet apart from people who don’t live with you
  • Limit your time around others
