The Urbana Park District is seeking applicants for new members of the Urbana Park District Advisory Committee (UPDAC). The position is appointed and voluntary.
UPDAC began in 1971 as a way for people to give advice and ideas for park district programs, projects and vision.
UPDAC meets 10 months out of the year on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.
“People are on UPDAC for a three-year, fixed term,” said Kelsey Beccue, park district liaison with UPDAC. “This promotes new, fresh faces on the committee.”
Recently, UPDAC has helped give advice to the park district about the Crystal Lake Park renovations, a new park district logo, our strategic plan and future park projects.
“UPDAC has come up with great ideas that we’ve incorporated into our plans. They are also our park district champions with the public,” Beccue added.
Volunteers need to live within park district boundaries and be at least 18 years old. People with questions about UPDAC can call Beccue at (217) 367-1536 or fill out an application online.
“We want a vibrant and diverse UPDAC to help give advice to the park district,” Beccue said. “All are welcome to apply to UPDAC.”
